Introduction
This page discusses entering and leaving Luana Kai C106.
Access
Unit C106 at Luana Kai is on the third floor of the C building, near the S Kihei Rd side. Several stairways provide access to the C building's third floor.
C106 Front Door Lock
The electronic door lock on C106's front door is pictured below.
Unlocking the Front Door
- Push the top button (labeled "Schlage", emphasized in picture with the added red oval) on the doorknob key pad. All of the buttons will light up.
- Enter your door code (either the one you gave us or the last four digits of your mobile phone number). The buttons will blink rapidly.
- While the blinking continues, turn the lock handle below the key pad (Schlage calls it the "thumbturn") counterclockwise. That will cause the deadbolt to slide back, unlocking the door. Use the doorknob as with any other door to enter the unit.
If there are problems with unlocking, the following 'troubleshooting' steps should be tried:
- Repeat the unlocking sequence after the button lights turn off.
- If the buttons don't light up when top button is pushed, the batteries may be dead or the electronics may have failed. Call Dave, Marianne, or Jeff for assistance.
- If the buttons light up but entering the code doesn't result in rapid blinking then either the wrong code was entered, the lock has not been properly programmed for your code, or the lock has failed. Call Dave, Marianne, or Jeff for assistance.
- If the button light blinks rapidly after code entry but the door remains locked, be sure you are turning the lock handle counterclockwise (to the left). If the door remains locked, call Dave, Marianne, or Jeff for assistance.
After entering the unit, the front door can be locked in the usual way by turning the lock knob counterclockwise. Unlike most hotel room door locks, C106's front door does not automatically relock when closed. For personal safety, of course, the front door should be locked when you are in the unit.
Locking the Front Door when Leaving
- Push the top button ("Schlage") on the doorknob key pad. All of the buttons will light up and blink rapidly.
- While the buttons are blinking, turn the lock handle below the key pad clockwise. That will cause the deadbolt slide out, locking the door. Use the doorknob to ensure the door has been locked
- The blinking will stop shortly or the top button can be pushed to stop it immediately. (As long as the buttons are blinking, turning the lock handle moves the deadbolt ).
