Using Maui Bus in Kihei

Key links for Maui Bus:

It may be surprising that Maui does have something of a transit system the connects most of the tourist/resort areas and business/shopping areas. (You are out of luck with Hana, though). Getting up and down South Kihei Road is easy - and even getting to Kahului and the Queen Ka'ahumanu Center is direct. Traveling to Lahaina requires one transfer while going all the way to Kapalua means three transfers and much of the day.

The routes you are likely to be interested in typically run hourly from about 5:30 AM or 6 AM to as late as 9 PM. Maui Bus charges $ 2.00 per boarding without the concept of a "transfer". It almost always makes sense to buy a day pass from the bus driver ($ 4.00).

For Luana Kai guests: You have easy access to the Route 10 and the Route 15 buses at a stop slightly north of the Luana Kai Resort on South Kihei Road. Look for a small sign with the Maui Bus logo on a pole.

For Pacific Shores and Maui Vista guests: There's a stop at Walaka Street and South Kihei Road (about 500 ft north of Pacific Shores, about 150 ft north of Maui Vista). Only the Route 10 bus goes this far south (Route 15 stops at the Pi'ilani Village Shopping Center).
