Travel Insurance in the time of COVID-19

Introduction

Travel insurance (usually for cancellation but also for other emergencies that can occur while traveling) has always been available. In this time of COVID-19, cancellation is suddenly on the minds of many travelers. Travel insurance for cancellation because of COVID-19 is available. Many travelers find it surprisingly affordable - often about or less than the cost of a single COVID-19 test.

You might be interested to know that we have had zero cancellations because of positive test results. That, of course, is not guaranteed to continue indefinitely into the future.

You are still responsible for taking the COVID-19 test and getting the results before boarding your flight. As far as we know, this cancellation insurance won't kick in if your test facility simply does not deliver results in time. We don't know what to do about that risk other than to choose a reputable test facility - and perhaps have a "Plan B" in place.

NOW: If you stay with us a week or longer, we will split the cost of COVID-19 cancellation travel insurance with you up to $ 50 per week.

Please note that you need to have made a reservation before using this site. (Unless you are only a few days ahead of the arrival date when you make the reservation, booking sites - AirBnB, VRBO, airlines, and so forth - typically give you 24 or even 48 hours of no-cost cancellations so you have an opportunity to reserve all of the components of your trip.) You will need to know the booking date, the travel dates, and all non-refundable costs.

Quite frankly, we hope the money spent on travel insurance turns out to be only for peace of mind. We want you to be able to travel to Hawai'i and enjoy the "Maui experience."
